This page is dedicated to the snow shots I have taken over a period of last 4 years while living in Denver Colorado. As you must be aware that winter in Colorado, especially on the mountains is really beautiful. People from across the country visit Colorado Mountains for skiing related activities but mountains also provide scope to the photographers to capture the nature. Although Spring and Fall are good season for photographers and during summer more opportunities are there to camp and take early morning or night time photography, winter time is equally beautiful for nature photographers – Frozen lakes, snow filled mountain peaks, ski areas, Partially frozen rives provides so much to the photographers. We just have to be prepared to hike in the snow filled trails.
These shots I have taken in my recent trip to Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. I got to spend quality time this time on my 4th visit to one of the most scenic National park in US. Lots of great hiking trail and this place is full of amazing landscapes.
Best areas within NP where I like to spend time are
1. Windows area
2. Park Avenue area
3. Delicate arch, Off course, especially if you hike the 3 mile roundtrip trail
You can see my other pictures of Moab attractions in these posts.

I have been to Moab, Utah several times as it was on my way to different road trips to west coast. On all those occasions I visited almost attractions there but never got to spend much time in any of those places as I was always in hurry to reach to my final destination. But this time (April 2015) I have decided to drive to Moab and stay there for 3 days and spend quality time in each attraction. The only goal this time was to hike and capture beauty of those attractions. I had one of the best hike of my life when I visited Little Wild Horse Canyon trails (post here). Also this time I manage to capture some good shots of Moab attractions. I have visited Arches National park which I feel one of the most scenic National Parks in the United States. Additionally visited Canyonlands National park, took some early morning shots in Dead Horse Point State Park & Mesa Arch in Canyonlands NP (post here). Also spend good amount of time in Goblin Valley State Park which is popular but still not very known compared to other major attractions in Moab.
While coming back to Denver, I selected one of bet scenic drives in Utah, Rte 128 which run along the Colorado River and every inch of this road is filled with scenic spots. I can fill an entire memory card just by taking pictures of this route. The highlight of this route was Fisher Tower campground where you can take amazing pictures.

During my recent visit to Moab, I had 'hiking in this scenic slot canyon' was on highest priority list. Those who didn’t got a chance to visit the commercial & crowded Antelope Canyon, can visit this place which is too good for families, photographers and those who like to hike with fun. There is also an adjacent slot canyon which is called Bell Canyon and most of the people do both the trails together ( total around 8 miles) but since my main purpose was to take pictures I just took this trail and come back the same route(around 6 miles). In terms of which trail is more scenic, I heard from people that little wild horse canyon is more scenic then the other one.
I went to this trail with my 10 years old daughter and both of us were too excited all the way looking at the winding narrow canyon. To reach here you need to enter the Goblin Valley state park area(first signboard stating the name of the park) and before the entrance station you will see a board for Little Wild horse canyon on your right. It is a paved road and you need to drive around 5 miles to reach to the Parking area for the trail. It is a huge parking lot but on a weekend in April 2015, it took me some time to find a free spot. This is a very popular destination so you may want to reach early on the day.
I would say that this is an easy to moderate hike and anybody can do it. I saw people from of all ages doing it especially kids were having too much fun. So I would categories this trail as a family trail. The canyon is narrow at many places and only one person can cross at a time but none of those narrow areas are difficult.
For photographers, I would suggest a non-weekend day, as this place may get crowded but even on an Easter weekend I managed to take many shots without people in the frame. Also you may want to choose a time when sun is at right angle and lights coming inside the narrow canyon.
Entire trail of little wild horse canyon(didn’t go to Bell Canyon) took me around 2.5 hours as I was stopping and waiting for other to go pass me before I could take pictures..
Enjoy some of the shots of this place.
